Effect of high leveis of nitrogen on grapes, cv. Thompson Seedless, trained on a pergola system

Julio Retamales A.1 y Bruno Razeto M.2

In order to determine the effects of high levels of nitrogen on Thompson Seedless grapes, trained on a high-trellis system (pergola), a trial was carried out at San Bernardo, Metropolitan Region. Shoot growth increased with nitrogen rete. No diffrences were found in yield, the same year of application; also, fruit maturity was not affected, though color of berries was greener, as nitrogen increased. The level of nitrate in petioles assocíated well with applied rates of nitrogen;also, total nitrogen in blades showed a similar tendency, though less accurately. These are results obtained in only one experimental year,
