Alfa-INIA is a new chickpea cultivar released by the Food Legume Program at Estación Experimental Carillanca (INlA, Temuco). It is originated from a single plant selection made whithin a Chilean landrace at Lumaco, IX Region, Chile. Alfa-INIA belongs to the kabuli-type chickpeas, with a seed weight averaging 62 g/100 seeds, thus being the largest seed size cultivar released so far in Chile.
