Diseased sweet pepper plants, showing symptoms of wilt, were coltected at the IV, V and Metropolitan Region during the season 1980-81. The wilt disease was found to be widely distributed in this growing area, causing around 30% reduction in plant population. Morphological and cultural characteristics of the isolated fungus and the corresponding pathogenity tests showed that Phytophthora capsici Leonian was de causal agent of pepper wilt. |
