The root forming capacity of softwood cuttings of the nectarino cultivars Le Grand, Regal Grand and Armking was tested. The cuttings were collected at three summer dates: January 25, February 26, and March 26, and subsequently treated with indol butiric acid (IBA), at the following concentrations: 0, 500, 1,000, 1,500, 2,000, and 2,500 ppm. The three cultivars demonstrated low rooting capacity, since roots were formed only on cuttings treated with IBA, the higher root forming percentages were obtained with 1,500 ppm. Higher concentrations of IBA produced a depressive affect on root formation. The most appropriate date for collecting the cuttings was mid-summer (February 26). |
