During four seasons (from 1970 to 1974) insecticidal trials were carried out for the control of the tomato fruit mont Scrobipalpula absoluta (Meyr.) (Lepidoptera; Gelechiidae), along with observations on the control of the cutworms Euxoa lutescens (Blanchard and Euxoa bilitura (Guenée). The results of foliar sprays indicated, in the first season, that the insecticide Cidial was highly effectiveagainst S. absoluta. Later on Supracid outdid Cidial.Biotrol Plus and Biotrol Xk proved to be highly promissing.Side dress aplications of Furadan, in two doses, wasnot effective against S. absoluta. Cutworm controlwas highest with sprays of Furadan, Tamaron andBiotrol Plus. |
