Wheat (Triticum aestivum L., cultivar Antufén) performance subjected to five seeding dates and seven N rates was evaluated by grain yields and yield components.Interactions of both factors was used as a criteria to evaluate N efficiency in each seeding date studied. Two field experiments on a trumao soil (Andasol) were conducted. A splitplot desing with 4 replications was used, including five seeding dates and seven N rates as treatments. The correlation matrice used for grain yields and their components showed significance for all parameters. Spike number/m2 had the higher incidence on grain yield, followed by weight of 1.000 grains and grain number by spike. Grain yield components varied independently; but they interacted significantly in their contribution to grain yield. According with results obtained, in late seeding dates it is not possible to reach the maximum grain yield by increasing N rate.
