An attempt was made to determine if certain apparent deficiencies and excesses of vitamins and minerals in some diets normally used in Chile could appear clinically as perosis or influenced growth and feed eficiency of chicks. Therefore, a base diet, similar to the ones commonly used, was given to 480 one-day old chicks. Groups were randomly distributed in six treatments with two replications earch. To formulate the experimental diets the base diet was adjusted for choline, folic acid, manganese, calcium and phoshorus according to indications from recent literature and tables of requirements. Chicks were kept on floor for the whole experiment. |
