A trial was conducted to evaluate theeffect of three different bedding materials (wheat straw, wood boards and concrete floor) upon the performance of fattening pigs (40 - 100 Kg.) during the winter period.
The following parameters were measured: average daily live weight increase; average food consumption per group; average feed efficiency per group; and daily measurements of ambient temperature and relative humidity.
In the above experimental conditions, no statistically significant differences in daily weight gaine were detected, within the treatments.
