Evaluation of sorghum hibrids bound for silage on clayey soil of aptitude for rice

The productivity of five hibrid sorghum for forage was evaluated on a heavy soil of Linares province(Chile) during the 1989/1990 growing reason.
The experimental design was complete randomized blocks, five treatments and tour replicates; sorghumhibrids were harvested at the dough state.
The dry matter production was not significantly (P≥ 0.05) different, the maximun yield was 15.9 ton/m.s/ha of hibrid Sudan cross-III. The contribution of leaves, stems and panicle was significantlydifferent (P≤ 0.05) between sorghum varieties, but there was not difference in the content of the crudeprotein, acid detergent fibre and soluble carbohidrates in the total dry matter (P ≥ 0,05).
