Evaluation of corn bound for silage on clayey soil of aptitude for rice

The productivity for forage production of three corn hybrids was evaluated on a heavy soil of Linares province (Chile) during the 1988/89 growing reason.
The experimental design was complete randomized blocks, three treatments and tour replicates; corn was harvested at the soft dough to hard dough state. The dry matter production was not significantly (P≥ 0.05) different between corn varieties. Themaximun yields was 15.3 ton of dry matter/ha of the variety Tracy T-112T; the contribution of leaves,stems and bos was not significantly different (P ≥ 0.05).The crude protein, acid detergent fibre and soluble carbohidrates concentration in total dry matter didnot show significant variations between corn varieties (P≥ 0.05).
