Alteza-INIA is the first naked grain facultative barley obtained from a cross between Laufén-INIA (spring) and Kold (winter) barley varieties carried out in 1985 at Carillanca Regional Research Centre, National Agricultural Research Institute, located in Temuco, Chile. Alteza-INIA has been inc1uded in yield trials since 1993. This cultivar is a six-row barley, resistant to lodging, scald (Rhynchosporium secalis (Oud) J.J. Davis) and net blotch (Helminthosporium teres Sacc.). It is recommended for animal feeding as a substitute for corn in Southern Chile. |
