Evaluation and selection of cereal germplasm for resistance to russian wheat aphid (Diuraphis noxia (Kurdj.))

During four seasons (1991-1994) 3,789 natianal and foreigns cereals genotypes were evaluated for russian wheat aphid resistance (Diuraphis noxia) in Chile. The evaluation was carried out under aphids artificial infestation in greenhouse and field trials. Lines and varieties showed different resistance levels to the aphid, where some outstanding triticale X wheat crosses displayed the highest aphid resistance.
