Tórtola beans have gray seed coats and are the most popular among chilean consumers. The origin of this cultivar is a cross between experimentalline T-a-8 (growth habit type 1, with gray seed coat) and cultivar. Blanco Español lNIA (white and round seed) made in 1984. The main agronomic characteristics of Torcaza INIA, are its semi-erect plant habit and higher yield compared with currently used cultivar Tórtola INlA.
