At the Cauquenes Experiment Station (INIA), with drip irrigation, the performance of two gooseberry cultivars was evaluated, Pixwell and Welcome. Plant growth was acceptable, but both cultivars showed some susceptibility to Oidium. Flowering occurred between mid September and mid October. Fruit ripenning occurred from mid December to mid January. Yield reached 5 to 6.6 ton/ha for Welcome and Pixwell. Gooseberry, with a more specific culture management, could be an alternative for developing small fruit industry in the area, under irrigation.
