During the 1979/80, 1980/81 and 1984/85 seasons, two experiments were conducted to collect data for an irrigation schedule for a Garlic crop. These data were crop coefficient, root depth and the minimum treshold for irrigation. The crop extracts water from the first 20 cm of soil, and must be irrigated when there is a moisture deficit of 40%. The maximun water consumption for the c1imatic condition of these studies was 2,030 m3/ha. Garlic is sensitive to moisture deficit during the winter period, lowering its production 39% if a drought occurs.
