The drop of reproductive structures in three lentils cultivars was studied during the 1982/83 season. This research was carried out at three locations, representative of main rainfed areas of lentils production in the central-south of Chile: Chanca (coastal dryland). San Nicolás (interior dryland) and Yungay (Andes foothills). On the average, lentils cultivars produced 40% normal reproductive structures. Flower and pod drop was 10%. Empty pods and dry flowers remaining in the plant at harvest time were 50% of the total reproductive structures. The highest percentage of normal seed at the Andes foothills, was related to the highest seed yield potential observed in the zone. There were no significant differences among the genotypes under study.
