The importation, rearing and releasing of parasitoids for the biological control of Sitobion avenae (F) and Metopolophium dirhodum (WLK) in Chile, were undertaken from 1976 to 1981. Only four species, from the nine introduced, were positively established: Aphidius ervi; A. rhopalosiphi; Praon gallicum and P. volucre. A. ervi has been the main parasitoid affecting S. avenae and M. dirhodum populations. During recent seasons, in some areas P. gallicum has overnumbered A. ervi on M. dirhodum.
