The behaviour of the cultivars Aurifén, Millaleu-INIA, Maitén-INIA and Chagual-INIA, in four dates of sowing and using two rates of seeding (350 and 500 grains/m2), was studied at La Platina Exp. Sta. (INIA Santiago), in 1986 and 1987. The average yields for the dates of sowing in 1987 were: 62.7 quintals/ha for the 15 of May; 63.2, for the 16 of June; 51.4, for the 21 of July; and 47.6, for the 17 of August. The average yields for the cultivars in 1987 were: Aurifén, 47.2; Millaleu-INIA, 54.4; Maitén-INIA, 57.1; and Chagual-INIA, 57.7 quintals/ha. Production augmented with the increase of rate of sowing: with 350 grains/m2, it was 58.7 and with 500, it was 60.7 quintals/ha, in 1986. In 1987, with 350 grains/m2 the yield was 52.8 and with 500, it was 55.3 quintals/ha. The differences in yield between the rates of sowing were statistically significant in both years. (P < 0.05).
