The effect of urea treated with nitrapyrin and thiourea on the efficiency of N uptake and grain yield by the spring sown wheat cv. Onda-INlA, in comparison to both urea and nitrate alone, was studied in a field experimento Nitrogen recovery for urea or nitrate was about 40%, and was increased to 57 and 65% when urea was treated with nitrapyrin and thiourea, respectively. However, the use of these nitrification inhibitors, did not produce a significantly higher total plant dry matter and reduced grain yield.
