ABSTRACT
Autumn flowering induction by water stress and fruit removal in lemon trees

In order to determine the effect of water stress and complete removal of flowers and fruits in midsummer, upon fall blooming, three trials were carried out on "Genova" lemon trees. One trial was at Quillota (1977) and the other two at Malloco (1983 and 1984). In all cases, water stress as well as kuit removal produced a significant increase in autumn blooming. The effect was even greater when both treatments were applied simultaneously. Blooming occurred three months after treatments, and fruit set was good. The effect was better at Quillota, probably due to the milder climate in winter and the lighter soil.
