ABSTRACT
Incidence and transmission of Ascochyta lentis Bond and Vassil in lentil (Lens culinaris M.) seed

Jaime Guerrero C.1

During the 1984/85 season, in different localities of the IX Region of Chile, a high percentage of lentil's seeds was detected with discoloration, shriveling, and necrotic lesions, caused by Ascochyta lentis Bond and Vassil. The infected seeds showed a significative loss in size, weight, germination and vigor, together with a loss in commercial value, due to the spots caused by the fungus. It was shown the A. lentis is seedborne. Though Thiram reduced the infection, it did not control the disease effectively.
