The analysis of the steps that conform the commercialization chain of lambs in the central zone, through the market of Santiago, is reported. This study was made in the period of highest offer, from September to December. For most of these animals, the start of the chain is in the public auction sale market, that is continued by the mayor industrialists, who will slaughter and sell them to butchers and supermarkets. The analysis of the auction sale was focused on the factors that determine lamb prices, and its association with other species, as well as their relations inside and between levels of marketing. Further, the zones and the breeds participating are indicated, and their influence on the econom ic results of all those involved discussed. Once the animal is dressed, the industrialist's possition in the market, as well as the effects of large buying powers on the prices are analyzed. At the comsuption level, the situation of lamb meat in relation to other types of meats was determined, through the study of a supermarket.
