Using the imnunodiffusion gel agar test, a 15.6% of prevalence of Ovine Brucellosis (Brucella avis) was found in rams, from fourflocks of the V and the VI Region of Chile. Based on this prevalence, a sero-survey in 586 ewes of the same flocks, was performed. The result pointed out a 1.02% of prevalence of the disease in females. A high association between sex and prevalence of the disease was established. The role of the ewe in dissemination of the disease is discussed.
