ABSTRACT
Dew effect on soil water economy and on rainfed wheat production

Rafael Novoa S_A.1 y Elías Letelier A.1

During 1983 and 1984, two prel iminary field trials were carried out to study the effect' of dew on rainfed wheat in the coastal range of Chile. Dew formation was impeded using a polyethelene double roof, that intercepted infrared radiation outgoing from the vegetation. In 1984, plots with dew gave significant higher yields than those without dew: 5.45 vs. 4.55 ton/ha.
