Considering the importance of the damage of the larvae of the fruit weevil (Naupactus xanthographus) to the roots, their survival was evaluated on roots of weeds and fruit trees, kept in flower pots in a glasshouse. Larvae were recovered in decreasing numbers, from the following weeds: Foeniculum vulgare Mili, Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers., Taraxacum officinale Weber, Conium maculatum L., Plantago major L., Rumex sp. They were not recovered fram, Trifolium repens L., Malva sp., Bidens aurea (Ait.) Sherff, Rubus ulmifolius Shott. In fruit trees, they were recovered in decreasing numbers from: orange, lemon, kiwi, cherimoya, avocado, mediar and walnut. No development was observed on grape, peach, apricot, plum, quince, pear, cherry, lucuma and rapsberry.
