From 1975 to 1980, at the Cauquenes Experimental Station (INIA), different drip irrigation treatments were imposed to oId Pais vines, growing in the dryland of Cauquenes, Chile. During the 1976/77 growing season, periodical samplings of roots, canes, shoots and apexes were taken from unirrigated and from irrigated vines, so as to characterize the seasonal trends and concentrations of soluble, reserve and total carbohydrates, in each of the sampled organs. Irrigation did not influence the seasonal trends of the different carbohydrates, but it affected their concentration in the sampled organs. The organs differed among them, in trends and concentrations of carbohydrates, in the different stages of the anual cycle of growth.
