Under the conditions of the Mediterranean sub-humid drvland range of Chile, during four growing cvcles, a calf production svstem with Hereford animals was evaluated, using a minimum cow supplementation and fertilization of the range (6.3 to 8.8% of the total area). Liveweight; forage availability; reproductive and productive parameters; and liveweight sales were eval uated. For each 100 mated cows, 100 calves were born alive and 95 calves were weaned; weaning weight (6.5 months) was 188 kg, average for the four cycles. Cow productivitv was 178 kg of weaned calves/head, and the liveweight sales were 36.3 kg/ha/vear, both averages for the four Cycles.
