ABSTRACT
Sorne hosts of Pseudomonas solanacearum in Chile

Carmen Fernández M.1

Eighteen cultivated and weed species were inoculated with an isolate of Pseudomonas solanacearum, Race 3, biovar 2, in order to determine their reaction as hosts to the bacteria. The evaluation was based on symptomatology, ooze test, atex test and growth of the bacteria on Kelman TZC medium.
Eleven species were found susceptible; Solanum tuberosum, Licopersicon esculentum, Capsicum annuum var. grossum, C. annuum var. longun, Solanum melongena, Nico tiana glutinosa, N. tabacum, Solanum sarrachoides, S. capsicastrum, Physalis floridana and Datura stramonium.
A few plants of C. annuum var. grossum, D. stramonium, S. capsicastrum and P. floridana were symptomless carriers.
Chenopodium quinoa, C. amaranticolor, Nico tiana rustica, Arachis hypogaea, Tagetes erecta, Solanum elaeagnifolium and Physalis phyladelphica, were found not to be hosts.
