ABSTRACT
Nitrogen nutrition associated to color disorders in Granny Smith apples

Rafael Ruiz S.1, Jorge Valenzuela B.1 y Carlos Muñoz S.1

In an experiment of nitrogen fertilization levels with “Granny Smith” apples, a clase relation was found between increasing N rates and a decrease in the incidence of two color disorders: premature development of the yellow ground color and development of red overcolor. The incidence of both disorders was reduced, when 125 and 250 kg of N per hectare were used. Mechanisms by which N exerts its action on calor development, are discussed.
