Lonquimay-INIA, a triticale variety for the soutliern zone of Chile

Lonquimay-INIA isa triticale variety obtained by selection in a late F2 mass of CIMMYT, Ciano 1978 and sown from the F3 on in Carillanca. It has alternative growth habit and resistance to stripe and leaf rusts. lts grain is similar in forrn and test weight to sorne soft bread wheats. It is recommended for the southern zone of Chile, where it outyields the alternative wheat Rancofén for more than 6%.
