Guido Herrera M.1

An isolation of BYDV affecting the oat cv. Nehuén in the north central zone of Chile was purified and compared with other luteo viruses. The parcially purified virus had a yield of 0.72 mg/kg of fresh tissue and an absorbance spectrum with an average A260/280 ratio of 0.89, with a maximun at 274 nm and a minimum at 254 nm. According fo the Enzyme-Linked lnmunosorbent Assay (ELISA), this solation is of the “PAV-like” kind and is similartothe one found in the states of Indiana and Washington.
