Effect of methyl bromide in a wheat monoculture trial, at La Platina Experiment Station, during 1977, 1978, and 1979

In a wheat monoculture trial, that has been seeded yearly with this cereal since 1977 at La Platina Exp. Sta. (INIA), Santiago, Chile, the effects of different levels of NPK fertilization and of soil disinfection with methyl bromide was studied, for the years 1977-1979.
An analysis is made of these effects on yield , hectoliter weight, 1000 seeds' weight, total number of seeds, and spike's size. The differences in yield and in these production factors could not be explained by the effect of present root deseases; but a nematological analysis, made in 1979, suggests that these differences may be related to the presence of nematodes in the root zone.
