The modifications of physico-chemical properties of a soil derived from volcanic ash, under intensified leaching conditiom was studied. The leaching method proposed by Pedro (1964) with modifications was used.
In this second partl, the variations of free iron and available phosphorus were díscussed. The decrease of free iron in the soil was attribued to a migration in the form of complex humus.clay-iron. In the same way, the environment of the soxhlet extractor was suitable to the migration of phosphorus.
It was concluded that climate and time were the principal soil formation factors that influenced the evolution of the soil. The level of "maturity" reached by the soil was considered as a dynamic equilibrium, due to the tendency toward the stability showed by the soil propierties studied.
