ABSTRACT
INFLUENCE OF Septoria tritici ON THE PERFORMANCE OF WHEAT VARIETIES AT HIDANGO EXPERIMENTAL SUB-STATION, IN 1978

In the regional annual wheat trial carried on at Hidango (INIA), Chile, in 1978, a heavy attack of Septoria tritici could be detected. This disease had a strong effect on yield and on grain quality, measured by the hectoliter weight.
Negative correlations were found between yield an Septoria attack (-0.87 and -0.71); as well as between this disease and the hectoliter weight (-0.63 and -0.59).
The positive correlation found between yield and length of the growing period can be ascribed to Septoria, because late maturing varieties always show less Septoria attack tha early maturing varieties, in Chile.
