During 3 consecutive seasons in the Scrub Country and Tussock Country zones of Magallanes, a total of 947 adult Corriedale ewes and 634 two-tooth were controlled to find out the reproductive rate, defined ;as the number of lambs weaned over 100 ewes mated. In the Scrub Country the reproductive rate was found to be 69.4% for adult ewes and 52.5% for two-tooth, while in Tussock Country it was 61.7% for adult ewes and 51.1% for two-tooth. Main causes of the low reproductive rate in both areas were the incidence of barren ewes and lamb mortality.
