ABSTRACT
CITOGENETIC OF Euxesta eluta AND Euxesta annonae (DIPTERA-Otitidae)

Daniel Frías L.1

The chromosome complements of Euxesta eluta and Euxesta annonae, diptera of the Family Otitidae that in Chile parasite Zea mays are described. Results show that both species have six pairs of chomosomes. The differences found in the respective karyotypes is interpreted as the outcome of a translocation between X and V chromosomes during the evolution of these species. These cytogenetic studies reveal the close philogenetic relationship of E. eluta and E. annonnae.
