SERUM IMMUNOGLOBULIN CONCENTRATION OF CALVES AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH POSTNATAL DISEASES UP TO TWO MONTHS

The serum immunoglobulin concentration of 231 dairy calves, two to seven days old raised on seven dairy farms of central Chile were determined using the Zinc Sulphate Turbidity Test (ZST). All animals consumed colostrum ad libitum from their dams until 2 to 8 days old. Serum immunoglobulin levels were associated with postnatal diseases, birth weight, weight at two monsths and season at birth
