ABSTRACT
EFFECT OF THE FERTILIZATION WITH NITROGEN, PHOSPHORUS, POTASSIUM AND SULFUR ON THE YIELDS OF RICE

José F. Araos F.1 y Carlos Rojas W.2

Nine experiments were conducted in farms located in the provinces of Talca, Linares and Ñuble, during the 1969/70 sea son.
Six experiments showed a significant response to N. In another experiment, the application of N increased yields but this effect was not statistically significant. In the other two experiments, there was no response to fertilizer application. One of these was the only one that suffered a shortage in the supply of irrigation water, and had the lowest yields of all the experiment sites. The other one experiment was the only one that was seeded on a virgin soil, and produced very high yields, the highest among all the experiments.
No yield response was obtained from the application of P, K or S in any of the experiments.
