Observations on the biology and life habits of the tomato moth, Scrobipalpula absoluta (Meyrick), were made in field and laboratory conditions in southern Santiago. Caracteristics of the different insect stages are described. Life cycle was completed in laboratory conditions in 50 days during the winter. Observations in the field showed that the pest overwinters as an adult, begining its activity when the temperature is higher than 10ºC.
