ABSTRACT
COMPARISON OF DIFFERENT SOIL WATER REGIMES IN CORN

Oscar Miranda N.1 y Víctor Fuentes C.2

A research work was conducted in a volcanic ash soil of the Ñuble province, in order to measure the effect of four water regimes on grain yields, quantity of applied water and water use efficiency.
The over all results indicated that under the specific growing season conditions of the period under observation, the quantity of applied water increased the yield, but decreased the water use efficiency.
The water regimes increased significantly ear lenght and diameter as well as leaf area index (I.A.F.).
