ABSTRACT
A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF TWENTY FIVE CORN HYBRIDS IN 2 LOCALITIES IN THE PROVINCE OF SANTIAGO

Alfredo Luchsinger L.1

Twenty five commercial grain corn hybrids were studied in two localities in the province of Santiago using a 5 X 5 semibalanced squared lattice with 3 replications.
Higher precision of this design was determined in relation to the randomized block design.
The most oustanding hybrids belonged to the semiearly and late groups and were found to be ranked similarly for yield through the different localities and seasons. The highest yields were obtained by hybrids G-4680, G-4641, MA-3 and MA-7.
Early hybrids were shown to reach satisfactory yield levels which makes late seeding or double cropping possible.
The "L. H. Rinconada" forage hybrids obtained a high mean yield of 112.88 qq/ ha in the 1970/71 season.
