Three fertilization formulas are studied in pot experiments with 51 samples of the province of Llanquihue.
These formulas (N . NP . NPKS) were selected taking into consideration the main nutrient deficiencies as they were determined previously by means of fertility diagrams of the samples.
It was found that the single addition of N in the soils tested, is inadequate. Considerable improvement in fertility is obtained with the addition of NP to these soils. However, in order to maintain an intensive agriculture with high yields it will be necessary to use NPKS formula. In the ñadi soils and in the Andes Mountain Piedmont, magnesium should be added.
