The nutrient content of leaves and stalks of two alfalfa varieties Medicago sativa vars. Moapa (irrigated) and Ligüen (not irrigated) fields were studied. The soil was analyzed in order to study its influence on the crop.
The samples were taken at 20-25 days interval, starting from the time the field was left to seed up to a few days before harvest. The levels of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Mn, Zn and Cu were determined.
Special emphasis was give to the seasonal variations of macro and micronutrients. From the foregoing, aproximate dates are proposed in order to obtain suitable tissue samples that will correlate with seed production.
