A system of diallel crossing with seven tomato varieties was prepared and established under green-house conditions at La Platina Experiment Station during 1967-1968. The purpose was to determine the relative importance of general and specific combining ability and the type of gene action involved in yield, number of fruits per plant and average fruit weinght.
Date were analized by the randomized block design, averages were compared by Duncan's Multiple Range Test, and the study of the combining ability was made by Griffing's experimental method Nº 4, model I.
