A mathematical method is developed that allows the determination of the fertility lines of a soil for each nutrient. In a semi-logarithmic coordente system it can be used a function Y = f(X) with the structure:
Y = A . bmX or
log Y = log A + mX
In fertility diagram, the comple formed by the lines of fertility is typical for each soil. Four chilean soils are selected in order to show the advantages of using the parameters of an equation that represents the straight line in a semi-logarithmic coordenates system.
A convenient application of this equation results when several soil samples are submitted to potted trials. By its use is easy to associate soils with simil behaviour, especially when considering the fertilization for correction or maintenance of the soil fertility. the equation is also useful in identifying soils with different behaviour.
