The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of plant population and distance between rows upon the yield and other characters, in two commercial corn hybrids.
A split-split-plt design with 4 replications was planted at Chillán, on October 27, 1969, to compare the main treatments: hybrids MA-6 and GI7-A; subtreatmens: 55-70-85 and 100.000 pl/ha.; and sub-sub-treatments: 45 and 90 cm between rows.
The number of days from planting to silking, plant and ear height, stalk diameter, light intensity at one meter height, ear lenght and diameter, moisture percentage of grain at harvest and yield, were recorded.
