Two experiments were conducted at La Platina Experimental Station, Santiago, to evaluate the use of peIleted diets containing 25% and 50% of wheat middlings upon performance of fattening pigs (57 to 109 kg live weight) .
Thirty two pigs were aIloted at random to the foIlowing treatments: 1) 25% replacement of corn by wheat middlings fed as meal 2) same as 1) but fed in peIleted 3) 50% replacement of corn by wheat mid dlings fed as meal, and 4) same as 3) but fed as peIlets.
PeIleting of diets had no effect upon feed intake, weight gains, efficiency of food utilization nor carcass characteristics.
A favorable economic response was obtained by peIleting the diets and this effect seemed to be in relation to the level of middling and crude fiber of the diet.
