The vitamin C content of 57 samples of alfalfa, 50 samples of alfalfa hay and 51 samples of clover was determined by means of a spectrophotometric method.
The figures obtained were:
for alfalfa 103,23 mg./100 g.
for alfalfa hay 6,62 mg./100 g.
for clover 75,70 mg./100 g.
The results of different cuttings were compared. The highest figures were found in the second cutting. The figures were compared with those given by Morrison and other authors.
The carotene content was determined in 43 samples of clover and the figures obtained were compared with those given by Morrison.
