RENE CORTAZAR SAGARMINAGA1

Changes have occurred in the acreage of the varieties of wheat cultivated during a period of 20 years.
Resistance to P. graminis, P. glumarum and P. triticina, precocity resistance to lodging and shattering of the grain, and good yielding ability are the characters needed in the varieties for this region.
The most outstanding crosses, as well as the characters of each line under study are described.
Results obtained with this breeding program are summarized.
