Monthly fluctuations of nitrogen content in petioles and responses to different natural potasium salpetre treatments were determined.
The treatments were monthly applications of: 50 - 100 - 250 - 500 - 750 - 1000 gr. of natural potasium salpetre per plant.
Monthly measurements were taken for height, fruit production and nitrogen concentration in petioles of plants.

CONCLUSIONS
Nitrogen concentrations in petioles under field conditions present a September maximum and a relatively stable minimun among December and June. Plants receiving high natural potasium salpetre showed sorne nitrogen accumu ation in March.
Under field conditions nitrogen content in petioles increased with nitrogen applications. The best sampling date was found to be between May and June, months where the best correlations between applied nitrogen and petiole content was found.
